Inside the Sadabahaar Vault: How We Source Our Vintage Silver

Inside the Sadabahaar Vault: How We Source Our Vintage Silver

Where the past finds its sparkle again.

What Is Vintage Silver Jewelry, Really?

Vintage isn’t just an aesthetic—it’s a legacy.

At Sadabahaar, our vintage silver edit isn’t "old-looking" or artificially oxidised. These are authentic, time-worn pieces made from high-purity silver, often handcrafted over 50+ years ago. From tribal toe rings to temple bells repurposed as pendants, each one carries a story. A history. A soul.

Where Do We Find These Pieces?

We don’t mass-produce. We unearth.

Sadabahaar’s vintage collection is sourced from:

  • Old Rajasthani and Gujarati households: Families who have passed down silver through generations and are ready to part with select pieces.

  • Discreet dealers and karigars: Experts who specialise in antique silver procurement, often holding rare finds unavailable to the general public.

  • Local haats and silver bazaars: Where lost pieces of the past reappear, wrapped in cloth, waiting to be revived.

  • No two pieces are the same. Some arrive with worn threads. Others with temple dust still clinging to them.

How We Decide What to Keep

Before any piece enters the Sadabahaar Vault, it’s assessed for:

  • Purity: Most pieces are tested to ensure they’re high-grade silver (60%–95%).
  • Craftsmanship: We only retain items that showcase heritage handwork—like embossing, granulation (rava), or repoussé.
  • Repairability: If something is too fragile to wear, we let it go (or preserve it as a reference sample).

And when required, our artisans clean, polish, reinforce, or reshape these pieces—without taking away their patina or character. Because every scar tells a story.

Vintage vs Vintage-Look: What’s the Difference?

You’ll find both on Sadabahaar.

  • Vintage Silver = actual old pieces, one-of-a-kind, often with minor signs of age

  • Vintage-Inspired Silver = new pieces made using traditional techniques, inspired by the past but built for daily wear

We always mention which is which. No guesswork. No misleading claims.

Why Do People Love Sadabahaar’s Vintage Edit?

Because it’s real. And it feels like coming home.

  • You’re wearing something that has outlived eras
  • You’re reviving heritage, not just mimicking it
  • And you’re giving silver a second life—on your terms

Our customers often say: "This feels like something my daadi would’ve worn to her wedding." Or "I’ve never seen anything like this in a mall store."

Exactly the point.

Good to Know Before You Buy

  • Expect minor irregularities: Tiny dents, slight asymmetry, or tarnish are not flaws—they’re proof of life.
  • We don't restock vintage: Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
  • Each piece is tested for quality and wearability
