Sadabahaar: A Bootstrapped Mother–Daughter Silver Jewelry Brand Built from a Dream
Share
Some Businesses Start with Funding.
Ours Started with a Dream.
Sadabahaar was born on 15 January 2019.
Not in a boardroom.
Not with investors.
Not with a business degree.
It began at home — between a homemaker who had quietly carried a dream for years, and her daughter who decided that dream deserved a chance.

The Founder
Before Sadabahaar, our founder was what many Indian women are — the invisible backbone of a household.
She managed finances.
Raised three children.
Balanced needs and sacrifices without complaint.
There was no MBA. No corporate experience.
But there was instinct.
Financial sharpness from running a home.
A strong creative eye.
And a quiet but persistent desire — to build something of her own.
Sadabahaar is her dream.
Her first design became our bestseller.
She pushes for risks when hesitation creeps in.
She shows up at exhibitions.
She reminds us to be brave.
And when decisions are difficult, her word is final.
Seema is the founder.
The Daughter
In 2019, I was pursuing my M.Phil.
Today, I am a PhD scholar and trained historian, formerly an assistant professor.
Academia gave me structure. Jewelry gave me a creative outlet.
I’ve always loved silver — from imitation pieces in college to discovering real handcrafted silver later. And, establishing Sadabahaar with and for my ma felt natural, a way to honour her dream while doing something that I continue to enjoy. From 2019-mid-2025, every single photo, video, and post that you have seen on our Instagram has been shot and edited by me. :)
Today, I handle curation, strategy, customer service — and every Instagram DM.
I am more flamboyant in my design choices.
Ma prefers delicate pieces.
Sometimes, I choose creativity over practicality.
Sometimes (read usually), I’m stubborn.
But together, we make each other braver.
What Bootstrapped Has Actually Looked Like
We are completely self-funded.
No external investors.
No funding rounds.
No pitch decks.
No Shark Tank.
We started from home.
The first year?
One sale a month.
Not one sale a day.
One sale a month.
Growth was slow. Painfully slow at times.
It took us seven years to cross 14,000 followers on Instagram.
We had no formal business education.
Inventory came from savings.
Marketing was organic.
Growth was community-driven.
We still operate instinctively: Sadabahaar has always been heart-led.
COVID Could Have Ended Us
Production slowed.
Logistics stalled.
Uncertainty was constant.
But something unexpected happened.
Our customers stayed.
They continued conversations. They supported launches. They chose patience.
We realized then: Sadabahaar was no longer just a jewelry page. It was a relationship.
That community carried us forward.
The Milestones That Matter to Us
- First sale — within our first month on Instagram
- First major launch — the Rangreza Collection (2020–2021)
- First 100 orders — achieved last year
- A few reels that unexpectedly went viral
- 2025 — expanding into a small team and bringing in marketing support
And in 2025, we finally stepped into a more structured version of ourselves — still small, but no longer alone.
Our Design Philosophy
Sadabahaar is rooted in:
- Rajasthani craftsmanship
- Tribal silver traditions
- Sourcing from the hinterlands of Rajasthan
- Limited, intentional pieces
Our design philosophy is simple:
Restore the glory of vintage Rajasthani silver jewelry.
Some pieces are flamboyant — my aesthetic.
Some are delicate — my mother’s preference.
That balance reflects us. :)
Working as a Mother–Daughter Duo
Working together is:
- Fun
- Honest
- Easier than you might think
Differences of opinion are easier to navigate because trust runs deeper than ego.
We have clear but fluid roles. We both make important decisions, but when it truly matters, the founder decides.
And that structure works.
If anything, Sadabahaar has brought us even closer.
A Women-Led Business — On Our Own Terms
Yes, we are a women-led business in India.
Yes, we are a mother-daughter business.
Yes, we are a bootstrapped jewelry brand.
But more importantly:
We are building at our own pace.
You will likely never see us on Shark Tank.
You will not see us pivot aesthetics for scale.
You will not see us dilute craft for faster turnover.
We want to grow, but not at the cost of our roots.
When you wear Sadabahaar, you’re wearing:
- A homemaker’s dream
- A daughter’s belief
- A bootstrapped journey
- Vintage craft revived
- Craft sourced with care
Sadabahaar was never built to be loud.
It was built to last.
A Note From Us
Sadabahaar began as something deeply personal. It still is.
Every order, every message, every returning customer reminds us why we started.
Thank you for allowing our dream to sit in your jewelry box.
With love,
The Mother (Seema) and Daughter (Sanchita) Behind Sadabahaar
