The jharokha was never just a window.

In the havelis and palaces of Rajasthan, the jharokha was the point where inside met outside, an ornately carved stone lattice through which royal women watched the world below, through which light entered and was immediately transformed by the carving it passed through. The jharokha turned the ordinary street into something that could only be seen, and therefore understood, through this particular screen.

Ten such windows, in silver, strung at the collarbone.

Each square piece is a jharokha in miniature, its surface carved to mimic a floral pattern, the petals emerging from the geometry of the silver the way they emerge from sandstone in the old havelis. Across each square, a diagonal cross of intersecting lines divides the surface into four, and at the precise centre where the lines meet, a red stone sits like the fixed point around which everything else organises itself. The white rhinestones that surround it catch light brilliantly, the way marble courtyards catch the afternoon sun: completely, without reservation.

Ten squares. Ten windows. Each one is linked to the next by a small chain connector. Together they form a continuous arcade at the collarbone, a row of jharokhas that turns the throat into a haveli facade.

And at the end of the dori, the braided red thread that binds the necklace and ties at the nape, is a tassel. Red as the centre stones, red as the alta on a dancer's feet.

Expect natural patina, tonal variations, and subtle imperfections — markers of age, authenticity, and handcrafted beauty.

The Details:

  • Metal: Authentic vintage silver (60%-85%). Vintage silver predates modern hallmarking standards. The lower purity is what gives it its characteristic weight, patina, and age — qualities no new piece can replicate.
  • Pieces: Ten jharokha-inspired carved square elements
  • Surface: Floral carving; diagonal cross intersecting lines
  • Stones: White rhinestones throughout; red centre stone on each square
  • Connectors: Small chain links between squares
  • Closure: Red braided dori with tassel finish
  • Length: Collarbone
  • Inspiration: Rajasthani jharokha architecture
  • Character: Heirloom, museum-worthy, irreplaceable
  • Crafted by artisans from Rajasthan, India
