The jhumka, in its most essential form, is a dome and a sound. Everything else is embellishment.

Kalki understands this. It begins with a small teardrop stud — geometric embossing across its surface, the worked pattern giving the silver its texture and its light — and then simply descends into a plain jhumka dome below. No additional ornament. No layering of motifs upon motifs. The dome is the dome, clean and complete, its hemispherical form doing exactly what the jhumka has always done: swaying at the ear, catching light, grounding the look in a form so deeply familiar it requires no explanation.

Ghungroos finish the base — the soft bells that the jhumka has always worn as its natural conclusion, that make the earring heard as well as seen.
