There are jhumkas that decorate the ear. And then there are jhumkas that become the look.
This is the second kind.
The dome is a full hemisphere in 92.5 hallmark silver. But this dome carries something on its surface that changes everything: a single kundan stone flower, embossed at the centre, its petals set in the ancient tradition of metal pressed gently around stone by hand. The stone is orange-red, the red of marigolds at golden hour.
Near the base of the dome, two horizontal lines are carved into the silver, running all the way around like the rings of a small planet. They do not ornament so much as conclude the dome. And then the ghungroos begin.
A fringe of silver bells fans across the surface of the dome, hanging from it the way petals distribute around a centre. They move when you move, and make the softest sound when you tilt your head.
Hook fastening, secure and simple. The dome sits exactly where it should — the kind of earring that does not wait to be noticed.
