The peacock-head kada β known in Rajputana as the mayurmukhi, meaning peacock-faced β is one of Rajasthan's most enduring and recognisable jewelry forms. For centuries, this kada has been worn by Rajput women as both ornament and identity: the peacock terminals at each end of the bangle are not merely decorative but carry the symbolism of the bird that is Rajasthan's own β the peacock that dances in the desert rains, that appears in every Rajasthani painting and textile and architectural carving, that the state claimed as its emblem because no other bird could represent both its beauty and its resilience.
The tradition of the peacock-head terminal in Rajasthani silver work goes back generations, passed from silversmith to silversmith as both technique and knowledge: how the peacock's crest is suggested in metal, how the eye is rendered, how the beak is shaped with the confidence of a bird that has always known its own dignity.
