Meenakari — the art of painting metal with colour through the ancient craft of enamelling — is one of India's most quietly extraordinary techniques. Where most silversmithing works with the metal's own colour, its own reflective properties, its own surface, meenakari introduces something new: colour that is fused into the metal itself, that cannot be removed or rubbed away, that becomes part of what the silver is rather than something applied to it.
